Electronic Payments Analysis Manager
ELECTRONIC PAYMENTS ANALYSIS MANAGER
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
The Electronic Payments Analysis Manager is responsible for managing, performing, and delivering existing reporting and analysis within B&IS Electronic Payment Operations. This role will support existing reporting and analysis processes, and will also be responsible for identifying and managing a backlog of opportunities to provide new business insights across other payment channels including, but not limited to: Wire, ACH, Check, Credit Card, Debit Card, and Zelle. This role will also work with stakeholders to prioritize opportunities on this roadmap and build and deliver new solutions once prioritized. Additionally, this role will support reporting and analysis needs for projects and ad-hoc requests for both B&IS Electronic Payment Operations, as well as the parent B&IS Payment Operations organization.
What you will do
• Own and execute a defined set of existing reports and processes.
• Investigate gaps / opportunities in reporting and analysis for other payment channels, and develop a roadmap to deliver these new reports and insights to stakeholders
• Support ad-hoc and project-specific requests for data gathering, analysis, reporting, and data frameworks in support of B&IS Electronic Payments, and B&IS Payment Ops
• Demonstrates governance, control, and risk management behaviors in alignment with City National Bank's policies and practices
• Leads/participates in the identification, development and implementation of new initiatives, operating workflow, additional services/applications or operational efficiencies including potentially leading special project teams or cross functional work groups
• Create reports and analyses on the results and performance of implemented strategies, using all appropriate quantitative methods and MIS, and make recommendations to increase efficiencies and revenue while managing risk, and produce those reports on a regular basis
• Be aware of changes to underwriting guidelines and monitor impact on account performance post boarding.
• Enhance test & learn strategy discipline and monthly reviews with senior management to proactively identify Risks and opportunities
• Define and document expected outcome of each strategy
• Performs post implementation validation of strategies to ensure proper implementation and timely strategy validation exercises to ensure performance meets expectations
• Performs detailed analysis and interprets information to make recommendations to Senior Management on critical strategies including non-standard and ad-hoc requests as determined by management
• Assists with developing and enhancing payment channel reporting capabilities to identify and maintain good business opportunities with new and existing clients
• Prepare documentation required for management approval of all strategy changes, including expected outcome and impact to P&L.
• Be the thought leader in strategy development techniques, leveraging a champion-challenger design to maximize P&L growth and enable the management of operational metrics within an established Bank Risk appetite.
• Ensures the timely communication of issues that are relevant to the team and encourages a good working relationship with other internal and external groups.
• Effectively work cross-functionally with teams outside of risk
• Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure strategies meet requirements and regulatory standards
• Works with Internal Audit / External Regulators, to ensure that documentation for all work processes is complete and up-to-date, including those assigned to analyst managed.
• Responsible and accountable for appropriate quality controls related to the financial products the bank provides, the services the bank delivers, the processes employed and the incentives with which colleagues are awarded.
• Align with City National Bank's credit risk tolerance around card products and other payment channels

• Ensure procedures are in place for all processes assigned to analysts/colleagues on team, and build and execute plans to update and create procedures as needed.
• Perform coaching and performance reviews for any colleagues in direct reporting chain. • Ensures sound credit control by taking a pro-active approach to risk management within the risk guidelines of the bank.
Must-Have*
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
• Minimum 7 years experience required in consumer and or commercial credit card
• Minimum 3 years experience handling and leading large analytical enterprise projects
• Minimum 7 years experience with data querying, validating, analyzing, interpreting and reporting
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Business Analyst, IT Project Manager or Systems Operations Manager
Skills and Knowledge
• Graduate degree preferred or dynamic work experience in addition to experience below
• Credit Risk Strategy design experience
• Consumer and/or Commercial Credit Card Experience
• Proven experience in handling and leading large analytical enterprise projects
• Proficient PC skills in MS Office and a variety of PC-based analytical and reporting software packages
• Experience with the use of Relational Databases and common programming languages such as SQL or SAS
• Working knowledge of SAS Enterprise Miner, FICO Model Builder
• Prior hands-on experience in using BRIO, Business Objects, Tableau, PowerBI, or other similar querying and visualization tools are essential.
• Prior experience with an adaptive control tool
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required to interpret data and draw conclusions
• Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing requirements
• Very strong attention to detail with ability to lead a range of tasks and prioritize
• Shown ability to build and maintain productive business/peer relationships
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experienced in developing and presenting recommendations to Senior Management
• Prior management experience
• Experience with risk models
Compensation
Starting base salary: $111,408 - $189,738 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
